RAPA Admissions Process
Parents of children who are interested in applying to both the academic
program (RAPA) and the ballet program must first contact the School Registrar
at 215-551-7010 ext. 1111 to set up an audition. The audition fee is $65 and
can be paid in person on the day of the audition. Once an audition date is confirmed,
parents should: (1) Download the Application Form and mail or fax it to The
Rock School (attention Mark Franek, Dean of Admissions and Academics, fax
215.551.8538), or bring it to the audition; and (2) Contact your child’s school
and have his or her academic transcript mailed or faxed to The Rock School
(attention Mark Franek), or simply bring it to the audition in a sealed
envelope.
Parents and students who are unable to travel to the school to audition in person must submit a Video Audition. Click here to download the Video Audition instructions.
Audition Day
On the day of the audition, please bring the Application
Form (if not mailed in prior) and the student's transcript (if not mailed in prior). The student will take an in-class
Audition and will be evaluated by the ballet masters and/or The School
Directors. Families will also
receive a full tour of the facilities and meet The School Directors (Bo and Stephanie
Spassoff), the Dean of Admissions and Academics (Mark Franek), and, if
applicable, meet the Resident Director (Holly Monsen).

Academic review
Upon artistic admission to RAPA, the Dean of Admissions and Academics will
review the student's academic transcripts from either middle and or high
school, and standardized test scores, if available. Generally, The Rock School would like to see no grades
lower than a C on the transcript, but exceptions are made if poor grades can be
adequately explained and resilience demonstrated.
Notification
After successful completion of the audition process and the transcript review,
the Dean of Admissions and Academics will contact the parents in about a week,
generally by letter. If accepted,
parents will receive an official welcome letter and a school contract.
*Please note - Admission to RAPA requires acceptance based on both artistic and academic merit. If a scholarship is awarded to a student based on artistic and/or academic merit, it will be stated in the contract letter.
For more information about any aspect of the admissions process or the academic program, please contact Mark Franek, E.d.D., at (215) 551-7010 ext. 1113, or via email at franekm@therockschool.net.
